Edwards 280B-PL Series Heat Detectors

The Edwards 280B-PL Series Heat Detectors offer reliable fire detection with both fixed temperature and combination rate-of-rise/fixed temperature options. These conventional thermal sensors are designed to quickly identify alarm conditions and communicate them to your fire alarm control panel.

How It Works:

• Rate-of-Rise Detection: If the temperature at the sensor increases by 15°F or more per minute, the rate-of-rise feature activates. This closes the sensor's contacts, sending an alarm to the control panel. Once the temperature returns to normal, the rate-of-rise element self-restores.

• Fixed Temperature Detection: If the temperature reaches the sensor's rated temperature, the fixed temperature element activates. This also closes the contacts and transmits an alarm. Unlike the rate-of-rise feature, the fixed temperature element is non-restorable. Once activated, the detector must be replaced, indicated by the center disk falling free.

Installation & Design:

Edwards 280B Series heat sensors come standard with a pure white, reversible plastic mounting plate. This plate is designed for versatile surface or flush mounting and installs directly onto a standard North American 3-1/2 or 4-inch octagon box. Simply twist the sensor to lock it securely in place. For added security, a tamper-resistant locking finger can be released with a screwdriver for removal.
